Clay is transformed into art with handmade techniques

The beauty of imperfection and the growing fascination for handmade have given prominence to pieces made in manual ceramics.

Just as we increasingly want to know where the food we eat comes from, know the story of who makes our clothes, we also want to get closer to the essence of those who produce other elements of our daily lives, between them, serving utensils and decorative objects.

Thereby, a good number of inspired handcrafted potters appear in the national and international market, seeking to deliver unique pieces, produced on a small scale.

“I see that the ceramics has been re-read. My generation experiences the hangover of the technological revolution and the lifestyle that came with it. We are trying to do something meaningful, true and honest and, this way, we find the traditional and ancient works that give movement to our routine ”, think of designer Fernanda Giaccio, studio owner ninth SP in an interview for Emag.

She defines her work as an integration between the poetry of the craft and the rationality of design. “Clays and enamels offer thousands of options, as you work and know the materials. The result is always new learning. Handling all of this is extremely inspiring ”, report.

The ceramist Sofia Oliveira, gives Olive Ceramics, agree with Fernanda. “I think all of that came with the slow movement, this aversion to capitalism at any cost. I don't think it's just a fashion, but yes, a bigger movement and artisan pottery ended up getting into that ”, states.

Advertising by training, Sofia started the studio four years ago when she was looking to meet in her professional life. “I had already tried everything in my area, so I started taking courses and pottery was passion at first sight ”, account.

Both Fernanda and Sofia work with well-designed collections, rustic-sophisticated and functional, using the combination of clay and enamels in different pigments to captivate any lover of hand-made products.

“I hope that the people who use my pieces take the time to really enjoy what they are doing. The pleasure of stopping and having a cup of coffee or having dinner with friends is sometimes overlooked. I hope to be in this pleasant time in people's lives ”, define Sofia.
