Live: architect “King of motels” talks about thematic projects
Modernity, automation and advanced technology are the new trends for motel architecture. The architect Ricardo Freire specializes in high-end motels and chatted about his career and market experiences on a live on Instagram @elianerevestimentos in this Monday (3).
The beginning of his career was with housing projects until one of the clients made a different proposal. “He made an appointment with me and gave me an address, when I arrived it was a motel. I called him without understanding anything until he told me that I was in the right place ”, Ricardo account. Since then, almost 20 years and the architect gained fame as “the king of motels”.
Ricardo is now the only motel specialist in the country and, since it started, never thought of doing anything else. New or retrofit projects, suites can be themed - like from the movie 50 shades of gray, executive, or more daring - some are able to host a party of up to 200 people. What they all have in common is high technology.
More than hosting, motel rooms offer real experiences like gastronomy by renowned chefs and tasting of a good wine list. Over the past four years designing high-end motels is no longer a trend only in Brazil, but has also gained space in the United States. In June this year, the architect delivered the 4th project in Miami.
