Trindade Studio
It's Wagner Trindade, but you can call Waguinho that he answers. Or even Waguinho do Muchacho, because he inherited his nickname from his father and also the job of lamps. With time, Waguinho discovered that he needed to go further: That's when he ventured into furniture, not ferro, in brass, and then it never came out. He is currently experimenting with going further with signed pieces and partnerships with big names in design..

Today it is one of the main attractions at the Tiradentes Creative Week and, with experience and privilege as a craftsman who is breaking the mold, helps to spread the importance of artisanal work. “I work on what I love. I don't think I would know how to do anything else in life other than this”.
He's a craftsman, but he's also a showman. Good chat, welcomed the group with coffee and sweets from Minas Gerais. Waguinho is captivating when welcoming, by telling your own story, when demonstrating the craft. “I am passionate about what I do”, he speaks, emotional, while moving those who watch.
What started at 7 years grew, expanded and is now in its third generation. From father to son and, now, for net. Luis Miguel, of 12 years, is inheriting his father's profession and, Certainly, he has already inherited his oratory and charisma – fundamental elements to keep his artisan legacy alive.

The tour of Waguinho's studio was guided by the product designer Stephen Toledo.

Nonato's Blacksmithing
Bichinho is the name of a charming village on the outskirts of the city of Tiradentes, in Minas Gerais. It is a storehouse of recognized names in manual craftsmanship, between them, Nonato. Raimundo Nonato inherited the profession and tradition of molding iron from his father. Known as Zinho, one day he needed to restore a lock. He got a taste for it and never stopped., so much so that he passed it on to his son without even noticing.

Nonato has 43 years and says he has been working for exactly 43 years, because I heard the noise from the workshop from my mother's belly. At first, they were the arches – hinge games –, today they are locks, padlocks, keys, latches. That's where he found himself. It’s what he likes to do most nowadays – for the artisanal touch. “Because iron is rewarding and because crafts are an inexhaustible source of creativity. That's what craftsmanship is; The pieces transform and ideas emerge”.
His dedication is so great that he handles the pieces almost touching the fire, but he no longer feels the heat in his hands because he is so used to the job. The right arm is noticeably larger and stronger than the left, for years of impact and effort. And it is to the sound of classical music that he hits the hammer on the iron. A shrill sound, strong and dry, that mixes with the soft chords. “I like classical music because it's light, pleasant. Soothes the ears”.

The blacksmith profession is ending, but not for Nonato, not in Tiradentes. The son of 20 For years now, he has been following in his father's footsteps to keep the tradition of molding iron in the fire alive. “And he's taller and stronger than me”, is proud.
The tour of Nonato's studio was guided by the architect Pamela Caszely.
