Ceramics in Major Works

Present in almost all ancient civilizations, the emergence of the first ceramic pieces merges with human evolution as a society, acting as a record of the history and culture of different peoples.
Today, the raw material serves as a basis for works of art, utensils, decorative items and coverings, bringing this link between tradition, culture and beauty. This whole story is portrayed in the book “Ceramics in Great Works”, which has just been released by Editora VJ.
Written by journalist Vitório Júnior, the book discusses the importance of ceramics in the history of humanity and architecture, in a proposal to unveil in depth the multiple possibilities of creation and development of the raw material.
With light text and well-produced photographs, the book invites the reader to travel through time, going through the first fires of the product reaching the incessant evolution that ceramics goes through, dialoguing with art, architecture and the great works.
With a creative approach, the content presents a little known universe outside the academic scope, allowing detailed understanding of the birth and development of ceramics, from the beginning to the present time.
Divided into three chapters and written in three languages (português, English and Spanish), the book was approved by the Rouanet Law – from the Ministry of Culture – and has the cultural incentive of Eliane Revestimentos.
