A relatively new concept that is gaining more strength today. But for Eliane, sustainability is part of the process even before it officially arrived in Brazil. Was 1992, with the elaboration of the Agenda 21, that the commitment of nations to act in cooperation and harmony in the pursuit of sustainable development has been officially signed. This way, this was already a time to harvest the fruits of this “investment”.
The evolution that began with the 90 it also reinforced the essence of caring for the other and the environment, that has always preceded the actions of Eliane. In the packaging of the first and pioneer production of porcelain tiles in the country, in 1996, came from Italy, beyond the machinery, the knowledge and technology to implement an entire effluent treatment system, which became the first existing in the country in a ceramic factory.
The following year was crowned with recognition. The manufacturing plant of Eliane Porcelanato simultaneously received ISO certifications 9001 and ISO 14001, becoming the first ceramic industry in the world to be ISO certified 14001, environmental management. International publications highlighted the achievement as an example of awareness and responsibility to be followed by industries around the world.
More of 20 years later, in April 2020, joins the collection another achievement: ISO certification 14001, in version 2015 of the standard, now for the Cocal do Sul and Criciúma units. But, as at the beginning of everything, being fit for the standard is celebrated, but it is seen as a non-spotlight compromise. Returning nature is a responsibility assumed since the beginning of everything.
When in mid 1970 started the environmental recovery projects of the mines, soon the unrest arose. Responsibility was called back to those times and, since then, all mining areas used by Eliane are recovered. A duty assumed and transmitted, like everything that is done in the company. An aggregating view of those who do not retain, but pass on what is good.
And go to school. The essence of carrying forward knowledge and awareness was repeated once again, with the creation of Colégio Maximiliano Gaidzinski - CMG, there is 41 years. From there to here, new generations have received the important mission of multiplying the technological innovation of ceramics, with ethics and social responsibility, respecting values and working for the preservation of natural assets, for the survival of resources, for the continuity of the brand and the planet.
People who leave ready to roll up their sleeves and implement even bolder initiatives, but visionaries. And so sustainability gains new proportions, go further. currently, recycling is a reality 94% of all the waste that is generated in the company - paper, plastic, iron and wood are examples of recycled materials, that can reach - only those mentioned - more than 2.200 tons.
But “sustenance” is also given by restless minds constantly creating new opportunities for us to be better. No GES - Eliane's Improvement Program, only in the last year 12% of the corporate ideas thought by employees and adopted by the company was in the environmental area, covering 5S initiatives and organization of the work environment; waste and reduced environmental impact.
